11/07/08 is right on top of us, and that means Gears of War 2 will be burning up our Xbox 360’s any minute now!
Gaming bits put up a nice list of Gears of War 2 Developer Midnight Launch Events. Huge bashes are happening in Los Angeles, New York, Bellvue, and London, but if you don’t live in one of those places, not to worry! Tons of stores all over the place, such as Best Buy, will be open tonight so Gears-heads can get their fix right at 12:01am. Poke around and you should be able to find a retailer in your town with their doors open late for the Gears of War 2 release date…
If you can’t wait, or you’re one of the unfortunate souls that won’t be able to grab the game right away, we’ll slake your thirst with the first ten minutes of Gears of War 2 leaked on GameTrailers!
If you’re thinking of saving a few bucks and buying a used copy of Gears of War 2, hold that thought! GameCherry has pointed out that “Epic Gets Creative With GOW2 Resales”. Especially if you’re into online multiplayer, take heed: Five original Gears of War maps, which have been all spruced up to fit into the fine-tuned Gears of War 2 gameplay can only be installed once onto your Xbox 360 hard drive. It’s developer Epic Games’ way of creating a disincentive for used sales of the game (since it cuts into their profits). So think before you buy - you can’t access these iconic Gears of War maps if you get a used copy. And you know used copies will show up very soon…
